Terms of use

The plain rules for using BellyLogic. Short on purpose.

Draft, not yet reviewed. Effective date: TODO(owner): set the date these terms take effect.

Who we are

BellyLogic is made by TODO(owner): add the legal name, country and contact address of the company or person who publishes the app. These terms are an agreement between you and us about using the BellyLogic app and this website.

What BellyLogic is, and is not

BellyLogic is a tool for noticing patterns between what you eat and how you feel. It checks a food’s ingredients against rules you set, guides you through testing one food group at a time, and keeps a log of meals and reactions.

It is not medical advice, and it does not diagnose, treat or cure anything. The results it shows are based on the rules you chose and the information you gave it. Talk to a doctor or dietitian about symptoms that are severe, new, or include bleeding or weight loss, and before making large changes to your diet. If you have a food allergy, do not rely on BellyLogic to tell you whether a food is safe for you.

Your account

  • You need an account to sync your data between devices. Keep your sign-in details to yourself.
  • You are responsible for what you enter. The app can only check the ingredients and rules it is given.
  • You must be old enough to use the app. TODO(owner): state the minimum age.

The AI helpers

The AI food analyzer, the AI label reader and “Questions about your results” use an AI service to turn photos, descriptions and results into text. They are optional. What they produce is an estimate and is marked as one. Estimates can be wrong: a label can be misread, a portion can be misjudged, and an ingredient can be missed. Check the label yourself when it matters.

The AI never decides whether a food is Yes, Caution or No. That verdict always comes from fixed rules and your own settings.

Restaurant and food data

Restaurant menu data comes from each chain’s own published nutrition guide. Packaged food data comes from TODO(owner): name the source of barcode and packaged-food data. Recipes and products change, and published guides lag behind, so this data can be out of date or incomplete. Use it as a guide, not a guarantee.

Paying for BellyLogic

TODO(owner): describe pricing: whether the app is free, has a one-off purchase or a subscription, the free trial if any, and that purchases and refunds are handled through the App Store under Apple’s terms.

Using the app fairly

Please don’t try to break the app, copy it, resell it, or use it to harm other people. Don’t upload anything that isn’t yours to share.

Ending your account

You can stop using BellyLogic at any time and delete your account from Settings in the app. We may close an account that breaks these terms. The privacy policy explains what happens to your data.

Our responsibility

We work to keep BellyLogic accurate and available, but we can’t promise it will always be either. You use the app, and act on what it shows, at your own judgement. TODO(owner): have a lawyer set the limitation of liability and warranty wording that applies in your jurisdiction. Do not publish this section as it stands.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, we will update this page and the effective date at the top. TODO(owner): say how users will be told of material changes.

Which law applies

TODO(owner): state the governing law and where disputes are handled.
